SCOB LED Strip Lights

SCOB LED strip (some people also call it WCOB LED strip) puts packaged LEDs under one continuous white silicone line, so the run looks dot-free like COB while reaching up to 142 lm/W. 23 models in six series, 5 to 10 mm wide, on 12V, 24V and 48V.

Supply range

Our SCOB program runs 256 to 320 LEDs per meter on PCB widths of 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm, at 12V, 24V, 48V and 24V constant current. Every white model renders at 90 or higher, a CRI 97 series covers color-critical work, and every reel is built from one bin to SDCM<3.

Common whites run 2700 K to 6000 K; 1800 K to 6500 K and single colors are built to order. The boards in the tables are IP20, with IP62 to IP66 versions on request and IP68 on the 8 mm boards.

Every model dims on PWM, DALI, 0-10V or TRIAC with a compatible driver, and is rated for 60,000 hours.

Why contractors spec our SCOB strip

Dot-free without a diffuser

A milky white silicone layer blends tightly pitched LEDs into one continuous line.

Up to 142 lm/W at Ra≥90

The 320 LEDs/m high-efficacy boards run 125–142 lm/W, measured on bare strip.

One bin, SDCM<3

Every reel is built from a single bin, so color matches from run to run.

Cut every 0.26 in, or anywhere

Free-cut boards trim every 0.26 in (6.66 mm); the gold-plated 24V board cuts at any point.

12V · 24V · 48V · constant current

Every 24V board feeds up to 65 ft (20 m) from one end, or 131 ft (40 m) fed from both ends.

Roll-to-roll, no solder joints

Eight models are made roll-to-roll, with no soldered joint anywhere in the 5 m reel.

When to spec something else

The highest LED density or a board under 5 mm

SCOB boards here run 256 to 320 LEDs/m on 5 to 10 mm.

COB LED strip, up to 1,600 LEDs/m and down to 2.7 mm

A long run on 12V

The 12V models run 16 ft (5 m) per feed.

A 24V SCOB board, up to 65 ft (20 m) from one end

A standard power supply on CC strip

UT-SC280-9-CC does not run on a constant-voltage 24V supply.

A matched constant-current driver, specified on your quote

Wet or outdoor locations

The models in the tables are IP20; sealed versions are built on request.

Outdoor & waterproof strip, IP65–IP68

The most light per watt

SCOB tops out at 142 lm/W at Ra≥90.

Standard & High-Efficacy SCOB LED Strip

The default pick for coves, channels and reveals. Five 320 LEDs/m high-efficacy boards reach 125–142 lm/W at Ra≥90, from a 6 mm board at 2.4 W/ft to a 10 mm board at 4.6 W/ft. Output and efficacy are the 2700K–6000K range on bare strip without a heat sink. IP62 to IP66 versions of every model, and IP68 versions of the 8 mm boards, are built on request. 24V models feed up to 65 ft (20 m) from one end or 131 ft (40 m) fed from both ends; 12V models run 16 ft (5 m) per feed.

Waterproof versions

IP options

The same strip, sealed for damp, wet or submerged locations. Pick the rating and we build the sealed version to order.

Cross-sections are illustrative; the same IP code can be built more than one way. IP62 to IP66 versions of every model, and IP68 versions of the 8 mm boards, are built on request; nano-coated and solid-extruded versions are not offered on SCOB. Sealing adds width and height and can shift color slightly, so the sealed size is confirmed with your quote.

Products are sourced from qualified manufacturing partners, are CE Marked, and are available with UL Listed, ETL Listed, FCC compliant, RoHS compliant and other applicable configurations. Certification coverage varies by model. Certification is held by the original manufacturing partner. Documentation and listing information are available upon request.

FAQ

SCOB LED strip questions

What is SCOB LED strip?

SCOB LED strip mounts small packaged LEDs at a tight pitch, 256 to 320 per meter on our boards, and covers them with a continuous milky white silicone phosphor layer. The layer blends the points into one dot-free line, much like COB, while the sorted packages give higher efficacy and tighter color, up to 142 lm/W at SDCM<3.

Read the SCOB vs COB guide

Is SCOB the same as WCOB LED strip?

Yes. Some people also call it WCOB LED strip, after the white silicone that covers the LEDs. The construction, the dot-free look and the model numbers on this page are the same whichever name your spec uses.

SCOB vs COB: which should I spec?

Spec SCOB where the line is visible and efficacy or color matching drives the spec: up to 142 lm/W at Ra≥90 and SDCM<3 on every reel. Spec COB where you need what SCOB does not offer: up to 1,600 LEDs/m, boards narrower than 5 mm, side-view or S-shape bending, or fixed colors.

See COB LED strip

How far can a SCOB strip run on one feed?

Every 24V SCOB model feeds up to 65 ft (20 m) from one end, or 131 ft (40 m) fed from both ends. UT-SC300UN-6 and the 12V option of the dual-voltage boards run 16 ft (5 m) per feed. UT-SC320HE-10-48V on 48V and UT-SC280-9-CC on 24V constant current also feed up to 65 ft (20 m) from one end. The run length is a voltage-drop limit; the driver's rated load still sets how many feet one output can power.

How short can SCOB strip be cut?

The 300 LEDs/m free-cut boards cut every 0.26 in (6.66 mm), and the gold-plated UT-SC300G-15 at any point along the run. UT-SC264-9 and UT-SC300UN-6 cut every 0.39 in (10 mm); most 320 LEDs/m boards cut every 0.98 in (25 mm) at 24V and 0.49 in (12.5 mm) at 12V.

Which SCOB strip suits a display case or gallery wall?

The High CRI 97 series: Ra≥97 with R9>90 at 95–105 lm/W, on 6, 8 or 10 mm boards. For a cabinet frame narrower than 6 mm, the 5 mm boards run Ra≥90.

Can SCOB strip be used outdoors or in wet locations?

The boards in the tables are IP20 for dry locations. IP62 to IP66 versions of every model are built on request, and IP68 versions of the 8 mm boards. Strip engineered for permanent outdoor and wet locations is on the Outdoor page.

Is SCOB LED strip dimmable?

Yes. Every white model dims on PWM, DALI, 0-10V or TRIAC with a compatible driver, and the tunable white boards dim and tune on one run. We match the driver to your control system at quote time.
